Independent Bookshop Week 24th June – 1st July

Independent Bookshop Week is an annual celebration of indie booksellers across the land, taking place this year 24 June – 1st July. Throughout the week we’ll have plenty of special goodies for kids and adults too – including a new essay by Philip Pullman, exclusively available at independent bookshops. Pullman, one of our most respected writers and thinkers, asks the apparently simple question: how do children read fairy tales, answering with his own experience of the stories that meant the most to him as a child.

On Monday 26th, 20 years to the day since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was first published, we are running a fun and fact-filled quiz, on all things Potter, Hogwarts, and magic, to test HP fans’ knowledge. Prizes include a gorgeous HP tote bag. Come and collect your quiz by Wednesday 28th.

And on the 29th June you may spot legendary children’s author Julia Donaldson, who’ll be popping in to the shop at 11.30, straight after story time, as part of a whistle-stop tour of the capital’s indie bookshops.
