Wilding: The Return of Nature to a British Farm by Isabella Tree

This is the amazing and inspirational story of a visionary farming couple who turn their patch of barren arable wasteland in Sussex into a paradise, rich in wildlife. Each chapter deals with a different species which has come back – from the brink of extinction in some cases, – including the nightingale, the purple emperor butterfly, and countless invertebrae and wildflowers. Most significantly, the turtle dove, whose soft comforting purr is said to soothe the soul, has returned to their land. They used to be a common sight in the UK, but have al but vanished. This book gives us hope but also raises worrying concerns.
