Whistle in the Dark by Emma Healey

In her last book, Elizabeth is Missing, which won he Costa first novel award, Emma Healey dealt with the agony, isolation and frustration of dementia, cleverly told through the medium of a detective story.

Her new novel addresses teenage depression, and the strain and anguish it puts on a mother/daughter relationship. When 15 year old Lana is found after being lost for 4 days, the mystery of what happened to her is only revealed at the end. Meanwhile her mother struggles to understand her mental state, only to be shut out.
