Costa Book Award Winners
The start of a new year brings the excitement of the Costa Book Awards. And we’re very happy to report that this January awards have gone to some Dulwich Books favourites.
First Novel Award:
Golden Hill by Francis Spufford
Francis’ wonderful debut has been a Dulwich Books bestseller for months. He joined us for a fabulous Faber event back in October, and has been one of our favourite new writers ever since.
Best Novel Award:
Days Without End by Sebastian Barry
A modern classic from one of Ireland’s literary greats. The judges described this as “a miracle of a book – both epic and intimate”. Read it and you too could believe in miracles.
Dadland by Keggie Carew
We first came across Carew at a publisher’s showcase last year. It comes as no surprise to see her memoir gaining the recognition it deserves.
Falling Awake by Alice Oswald
A collection of beautiful poems about mortality – this is a book to be read aloud.
Children’s Book Award:
The Bombs That Brought Us Together by Brian Conaghan
Hilariously funny but timely and thought-provoking. It’s got it all!
