Books are My Bag Day!
BOOKS ARE MY BAG is a nationwide campaign to celebrate bookshops, so naturally we like to make a bit of a fuss on their annual Bookshop Day, which is Saturday, 7th October. To celebrate,
we have planned events, activities, and little treats for customers who shop with us on the day.
Some of the special plans include:
- Guardian food writer and cook Kate Young will join us to celebrate Bookshop Day. Kate is the author of The Little Library Cookbook, which includes 100 wonderful recipes inspired by her favourite novels. Paddington Bear’s marmalade, a Neopolitan pizza with Elena Ferrante, afternoon tea at Manderley. Kate will prepare some tasty treats from the book and informally discuss the novels that inspire her cooking. What better way to mark Bookshop Day than with literature-inspired nibbles and book chat? Signed copies of The Little Library Cookbook will be available on the day. The event is free but registration is requested.
- A children’s lucky dip out of the giant BAMB bag, a bookshop themed storytime at 11am, and balloon and sticker giveaways.
- To tie-in to the BA’s partnership with e-Harmony, we’ll have a free quiz for couples (or potential couples!) to take to test their literary compatibility.
- A return of our “blind date with a book” incentive that was a hit during Independent Bookshop Week in June.
- Yummy baked goods!
