COUNTRY OF THE MONTH
Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote.
The droghte of Marche hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licour,
Of which vertu engendred is the flour.
(Geoffrey Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales)
Spring is now well on its way and we hope that the only beasts making an appearance are lambs and bunnies…
The spring weather has turned our thoughts to things lyrical, so for theme of the month we have chosen poetry. April is National Poetry Month in America. It is a celebration of poetry introduced in 1996 and organized by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry.
